Please adjust the view until the theater is clearly visible. The Teepee Drive-In was built on the outskirts of Tulsa, opening on May 5, with a capacity of cars. Over its 50 years it has passed through numerous owners. It did not re-open for the season. I would love to not only see the drive-in restored but the historic Route 66 bridge leading to it restored as well. One possible solution which would be far less expensive compared to fixing the bridge, although it may be harder to accomplish, is creating a public access road on the west side of the VFW parking lot.
It bypasses the bridge and allows direct access to the road leading to the drive-in. Which means that the fate of the drive-in will still be in limbo. I would think whomever maintains the road city, county, state would want to divert around the bridge for the people who live down that road.
But that bridge is definitely rough. If the bridge is not going to be repaired, then the city or county can establish an access as it is their responsibility. In fact, they would have to if the bridge is deemed unsafe which its not far away from that.
Plus, there is plenty of room between the VFW and the glass company to create a two-lane access road with no need to cut into the drive-in. Login or Sign up. The current owner is looking for a person to take over the operations and re-open the drive-in.

The theater originally could park cars. It has had several owners since it first opened in Cox and others believe Sapulpa and other communities would be supportive of such a venture — especially on Historic Route There was a burst of enthusiasm about four years ago over the possibility that the drive-in would re-open when a developer came through town with a plan to lease the landmark.
A month later after volunteers had done significant clearing of overgrown brush and general cleaning, questions arose about Glen, who also used the last name Brannan. People had even donated money to the cause but Glen was absent and his promises of glory days faded with him.
Brannan would not talk further with media. There was no formal investigation. Despite that shadow and some status changes with owners, the property is up for sale not for lease.
